During many centuries people had faith. Either in a god/God, magic, or something else, everything of which origin lies in the own self. Even though old paganism idolized external gods, they did recognize at least in an unconscious level, how these forces had a connection with the oneself, and the mind. Sure of course, during the middle ages this vastly degenerated until it became the faith on which you must believe in a God, but no matter how much you try, no matter how far you go, that God will be still far from you, far from what you are, and you are simply a sinner. Then came the humanism, later the illuminism and all this reverted.
The once man that was fully skeptic about his own power and had a blind faith upon what is above, became an insolent and arrogant creature, with 0 tolerance towards other species, 0 tolerance towards the planet in which he lives. And thus, the basis of the Industrial Era were founded.
Now, lets combine both the arrogance of the new man, with the characteristic laziness and procrastination of the Ego decades and we have as result a confused being! Sadly in the era in which we live, people have lost the capacity to investigate by themselves. In schools and universities research isn't even promulgated that much anymore, instead they impulse collective work, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but in the lack of other skills, makes people co-dependent, not able to survive by their own as individuals.
With co-dependent humans comes the need for co-dependent views. The need for approval to accept a view. The need to know that a view is respected in order to accept it and share it. Unfortunately, most people blindly believe what the government, institutions, what those in charge of society say and do. In a world in which only value is to get as greedy as possible, we must rescue a free mind.
Specifically I want to speak about medicine, how allopathic modern medicine saves millions of lives daily, but at the same time does not let the individual heal from many "chronic" conditions that could be possibly cured through solving the inner conflicts. There's gigantic laboratories lobbying to stop better treatments coming out, naturally they do not want to lose all the billions they would if such technologies come out.
I have seen with my own eyes patients blindly following doctors advices without even researching a tiny bit by themselves. We must remember, that some decades ago the Tobacco industry was paying trillions to the medical institutions just in order for the latter defend and clear any possible implication of this product with harm to human health. The same situation is happening all over again with the dairy industry, despite uncountable links founded between dairy and disease, most doctors keep telling patients to keep drinking the "healthy milk". Going as far, as to say that is good for conditions such as GERD and gastritis. When in fact is only worsening all these conditions.
Modern science and medicine are necessary obviously, but they are mostly to cure what is already in a terrible condition. On the other hand, people should once again open their heart to the traditional and ancient medicine. Valuing once again the wise concepts of our ancestors, of the beginnings of civilization. One may think that all of this is dead, but well actually and thanks to globalization, all these "ancent ways" are more alive than ever before, spreading throughout the world. As long as you have will, you can find whatever you want; chi-kung, tai-chi chuan, Traditional Chinese Medicine, ayurveda, etc.
As I have clarified before, the Ancient Ways and Ancient ways of dealing with disease are more oriented towards preventing, rather than healing what has been affected already. So if you already have End Stage Kidney disease, a Diabetes history of many years, or such things, then you will naturally need to stick with the modern medicine, sure of course, being able to adopt some holistic principles ;)
However and most importantly, all disease is born in the mind. It later manifests physically. In this case being mindful while practicing compassion will liberate you from the dis-ease that lies in your mind.
Mindfulness being the key towards the peace of mind. In a world which overrates efficiency and puts it above tranquility, we've got to develop mindfulness otherwise we'll fall into the stress and depression. Mindfulness being the concept of elevating towards the level of art whatever we do. When we concentrate fully on the here and now, without thinking of the what if's... I want... I dream... just on the present, then we will naturally achieve a spontaneous joy. Sure it is much easier said than done (tell it to me xD) however we must endure to achieve this. If you're travelling back home in the metro, stop for a minute listening to your iPod, and listen instead to the music in the atmosphere... the music of every single day coming from all random sounds crashing together.
Compassion.... most people have a twisted concept about compassion. They believe it is more like a "bag of rocks you must carry" when actually compassion starts with yourself. Only through the act of having compassion towards yourself, of forgiving yourself, and most importantly loving yourself, is that you can develop compassion and love towards others. When we act as we do because of what society will think of us, when we are about other's opinion about us more than our own inner happiness, is that we're being cruel to ourselves. Stop for a minute and reevaluate your principles. Cruelty towards you will develop into disease.. both mental and physical, love will only generate more love.
Cruelty, darkness and coldness are the roots of a divided mind. Harmony, compassion and easiness will lead us towards tranquility.
My advice to everyone is to keep an open mind, and eyes wide open. Despite all the spider webs of deception out there designed to trap and hold you, there are still great things and iridescent ways of knowledge to achieve happiness. Mental disorders, mental sickness are in their origin, primarily, alerts of our nervous system that we "can't take it anymore and we're mad as hell" deep inside us. This might manifest as intrusive thoughts, intense nightmares, and if you let it degenerate... it can go truly bad.
Beliefs are nothing, just live, feel, and prove.. prove what is good for your being, and what is bad for it. Instead of being a blind sheep, be a rebel cat. There are millions of persons out there who have lost their independence to psychiatric drugs for example, of which in many cases aren't really needed. Such drugs are only holding back the person from resolving his inner conflict, stopping him from healing towards being integration. At the end of the day, who can be a better doctor to treat your symptoms than yourself?
"One has to know the size of one's stomach"
Friedrich Nietzsche, Ecce Homo
Sure of course, not to confuse with some kind of wicked Ego-delusion on which you falsely think no one but you holds the truths to the universe. As important as loving oneself, is to love others, being able to accept help when in need, being able to stop for a minute to here their opinions, and re-evaluate yours, if needed. We are the best doctor to our own being, but sometimes there comes the moment when we need a guide, that help us see and love ourselves once again.
From here derives the concept of Magister, Maistyr and finally Master, the one who holds a knowledge, a special degree in some discipline. The Doctor and Master were one and the same before, when they were simply called "Shaman" . It is highly important to recover this word, this meaning on our life, as I find vital to have such Teacher, Doctor of Soul, Master of Spirit, Shaman of Life in order to know ourselves better... Priest even.
Talking about guides and masters in our lives, I would like to finish this article with a short video about Chi Kung ... how to flow along the river of Chaos without getting sick on the process!
I haven't started QiGong as of yet, but have with Tai Chi Chuan since two weeks ago! A class every Thursday, while practicing the rest of the week (ideally in the park while its sunny) the movement given to me for those days. Even though I have merely started, I already feel results of energy rising, leading me towards mindfulness and a deeper state of tranquility through concentration.
With a new week coming, I'm looking forward to keep in touch with the world through my blog, even though I'll try to concentrate most of the emotional images revealed to me by the unconscious in another kind of work, of which I hope one day will see the light.
Until the next!

I really like the last two posts, they are very inspiring...It´s truth, many of us have lost the sense of what is real and what is not, even those who strive to live postively present face that problem. We just don´t think for ourselves anymore. The media and marketing do that for us. I also feel like with the technology boom the people are becoming less independent and free than they used to be. Or just more lazy to think outside the box. When the information is handed down to you on a plate, why would you want to find out other options, right?
ResponderEliminarI don´t think that the modern medicine is necessarily bad, but its problem is that it only cures the symptoms, not the main cause. It doesn´t go to the heart of the matter, it deals with the surface. And it separates the body from the mind. But the two work as one, and thats how they should be treated.
Good luck with finding the inner peace! That´s something no pill, drug or external help can offer you.

Ahoj! Sure, technology has had a bad influence over people's mind in this way. Even though the communication revolution arisen in the human psyche about 20 years ago has had some tremendous wonderful effects, such as the obvious one of us two communicating through this blog... it has brought new things of which human has to learn to deal with.
ResponderEliminarSince we're mentioning internet, then I would like to state how 10 years ago (I was already surfing the web quite a lot back then) it was a much more individualistic space. Sure, chats existed and such, but overall the individual was looking for the individual. Then, the deep need of union, of communication, that is within most of us, impulsed the creation of social networks and other ways of sharing. Naturally, this was something beautiful and a huge improvement on human evolution in a beginning. Later, the system absorbed the social networks and since then it has been mutating and degradating.
BEFORE: People were sharing their indivudality, understanding other's personality, creating a bond, a celebration of life and difference.
AFTER: Differences are disappearing. There's a homogenization of thought and of feeling. I wouldn't mention it as collectivism, but more like mass alienation. Even though the ego has increased in every individual, living by your own, has become impossible.
There's a problem, because many things can only be done individually. How can you live in the present if you're not you, but a social number. I hope its understandable!
About modern medicine: There's countless surgeries needed in the entire world every single second, many infectious diseases that demand the use of antibiotics, if it wasn't because of modern medicine it would be a disaster. However, just as you say, psychosomatic ilnesses which comprehend many of the so called "chronic diseases" cannot be cured because mind and body are being separated. The modern person wants everything "right now!" "in this moment, not later" that's where greedy laboratories disguised as modern medicine, comes in offering a random pill to he person. Because that's what the person wants. Why bother sacrificing a bit from your side, if you can get something that will help symptoms disappear quickly?
Why for example, change your diet, try to resolve your stress, do all those things so the gastritis vanishes, if with an omeprazole you won't feel anything anyway?
And this is just an example :)
